Since 1976 I've spent each Saturday in the pits and the rest in the cheap seats on the ramp.
I've seen quali's from just about everywhere including the pylon 4 but I still do the lawn chair thing for most of the formal event. Habit I guess, and with all it's shortcomings (vehicle traffic, low vantage point, getting up at 5 am to get in front) still the best cheap seat in the house. I find the pits on race days great, but the race hard to watch. More exciting tho being close in.
