The armament on the FW-190... is that supposed to make the mustangs out front a little nervous?

It looks like the fix to the cooling issues was to add oil coolers in the wings. They added a cooler to each wing (where the outer canon shell shoots would be).

Still wish we could get that Me-262 over from Ione
to perform an alternative type of heritage demo...
Now that would bring some of the magic back to RENO.
I know it is not on the schedule, but wouldn't it be a kick in the ass to see the FW-190 take off, circle around Peavine Mtn. and return with that Me-262 off it's right wingtip?
NOW that would go a long way to bringing back some of that old Reno Magic that I have witnessed since 1967.

                A little history:
The FW-190A, considered the best fighter aircraft in Europe in 1941.
This includes the Spitfire Mk V.
It's superiority was a complete shock to the RAF.
First active squadron in France led by no less than the legendary Luftwaffe Ace Adolf Galland.

What's going on with the FW190? Yesterday I spoke to the people there and they told me that they want to fly on monday afternoon but till 5pm the butcher bird was standing in his pit and some people worked on it. They seem to have some technical issues?
I hope that they can fix it until tomorrow evening.

I think a serious racer project around an FW-190 with a race preped 2800 would be the ticket for years of unlimited domination. I need to buy more lottery tickets to prove my theory! :-)

I don't know about that. The FW 190 design has a lot of drag. It would have to be very heavily modified to get anywhere close to the Unlimiteds. If you will notice this plane referenced above has a 2800, though it's not a race engine and only qualified at 303 mph. I guess that's probably about right for that design, and they probably didn't push it very hard either - rightly so. Do you honestly think more horsepower and aerodynamic changes could account for a 180 mph difference? I personally don't.

Regardless, it's a neat airplane and I always enjoy seeing unusual things rounding the pylons, even if they are not serious contenders for winning.

The FW 190 was fast, the early A series would out run the mk V spitfire, and it took clipped wing mk IX's at low level to run with the 190's no guns, armour and close of the wheel wells, and cover the tail wheel it would improve the speed. but also remember that the R2800 is larger in diameter than the BMW801 of the originals, and the Flug Werk 190's that have the Ash 82 have the same sort of power as the original BMW's that are a both smaller capacity 14 cylinder powerplants than the R2800

This is 2800 hp engine without tweaks !

Wonder how much hp is needed to go 488 km/h ? Half throttle ?
