I was shooting some video when he made that landing, it was touchy there for a second but he handled it like a pro.

Great video. Stevo knew enough not to give it full power when in that situation. We lost more than one driver giving it full power & rolling it.

Awesome thanks.. Looks like he was trying to pin the tailwheel with too much airspeed.. Lowered the nose a bit and it came right back down.. Nice..

I'm betting you will never see him in that situation again. At first I thought he caught a gust but winds were pretty light. Makes for a neat picture with the wheelie.

WoW! What a video! Being a tailwheel pilot myself, I puckered a bit just watching it! It looks to me like first of all he touched the mains with a bit to much airspeed and then dropped the tail too soon which in turn increased his angle of attack. I know with the T-6 it's important to get the tail down right away because you loose rudder authority quickly as you start to slow in the roll out, thus you need that locked tailwheel down right away. With the Mustang I think you have to allow it to come down as your speed depletes. Makes for awesome video, but I can only imagine what went through Stevo's mind not so much right as it was happening, but after he parked Strega and realized what could have been! Speaks to this young man's ability to handle a warbird it a touchy situation!
