Has anyone thought of trying to get a MAJOR magazine like Sports Illustrated to cover the races? I found the contact link at si.com and asked them to cover this years races. Just thinking if other guys posted the same question that maybe they might send someone out? A story in Sports Illustrated would be HUGE!!

I think the last time Sports Illustrated covered the Reno races was when Gunther Balz won in 1972. SI had a small story when Greenamyer crashed the RB-104 in 1978.
Aside from that...if it ain't a stick and ball sport, or NASCAR, you won't even get SI to blink at it. -

SI does a lot of freelance stuff/local media...
If someone shot a few pics, and submitted a story to SI, it *might* get printed, and *could* lead to getting a call to cover the races the next year.
Least that is how a friend and I got into the George forman v Pier Coutzer (sp?) fight way back when.Comment
