    Re: Jimmy's $10,000 offer

Now that the race week is farther I have a bitter-sweet taste because the unlimited Gold trophy was assigned according to the previous races. But that decision doesnīt mean itīs the best way.
These great pilots, and teams, may be, were reserving their machine outputs to the Sunday final, and....they couldnīt demontrate it,
and those comments arise because the contenders go to Reno to compete and win. I would have preferred to leave it without a winner, because when the time goes by and you count it, a peanut more is a peanut more. IMHO.

Having to wait a year for the showdown is going to kill me.

I agree with Smee that the motor was far from stock. Just from the engine tone of the test flights and the first lap of Sat. Silver heat compared with the tone during the slower heat races.

Thats where my agreement ends cause I will always know in my heart she woulda squirted ahead of the field and won the four way photo finish.....

You think Tiger is a racer? Take the bet. Fear Jimmy. Fear the Ghost.

I'm not so sure... somebody here "reported" one day that Jimmy had shut down early and coasted to the fuel truck (the day he came in on 14 rather than the rwy everyone else used)....

I had been waiting there to talk with Jimmy that day and can ensure everyone... he was running when he stopped and the only thing he did was shut down, rather than doing the "plug cleaning" runup that is sometimes common...

One day at the Bear pit (when Lyle still owned it) I was standing just inside the tape... they 'd had a bit of a problem, the guy standing at the tape was told what the problem was.. something in the intake system.. he told the guy behind him who added a bit.. by the time it got about three people back from the tape, the last guy I heard said to the guy behind him who asked "what's the problem?".. VERY matter-of-fact.. "they hit a bird"

**sigh** some folks just have to have the news.. no matter if they make it up or report it when they shouldn't...

Our most credible announcer, Steve Stratavaracacaracass said Jimmy shut down due to a failed temp gauge (wire fell off it). Just a precautionary measure.

It appears this thread has gone the direction of Strega versus GG when in fact I believe the bet was a challenge to Tiger to FLY GG.

I was standing next to Jimmy Leeward when he was talking about this.

That is not what he wants to do. He wants to beat Tiger in a race, something he cant really do now because Tiger is retired. Hence the cash offer to lure him out.

That's also what a GG crewman told me.

Red Bull has no earthly idea what "air racing" is.
