Gerald Martin

I heard that Gerald Martin passed away a couple days ago down in Texas. Gerald was one of the original CAF members, was one of the four CAF pilots who flew Buchons in the Battle of Britain movie, and he raced twice at Reno...once in his P-51 in 1974, and once in the CAF FM-2 Wildcat (Yes, Virginia...Air Biscuit was not the first....) in 1977.


The old guard continues to rotate out...and though it may look similar, it will never be the same again.

Yup...Howard brought his Wildcat in '82 as well.

I remember him very well! Was reading about him for years and I did see him fly a few times.

I never met Gerald in person but did share something of an Internet friendship with him. Below are a few pictures that he forwarded to me with regards to his time with the CAF, "Black Sheep Squadron", and "Battle of Britain" experiences. Rest in peace Gerald.

Yes, left to right it's Gerald Martin, Adolph Galland, Lefty Gardner, and Sir Douglas Bader. That was taken on the set of the Battle of Britain movie in 1968, I believe that is in Saville, Spain. Bader was an advisor for the RAF and Galland for the Luftwaffe scenes.
