needs a name. "44-73079" doesn't really roll off the tongue.

Yep, she needs a name. I nominate "Checkered Past."

          Any other ideas?

I like checkered past, it sounds good. My random nomination is chrome-ble-bee.

I've got some pictures when it was owned by a guy in Lodi. He let me go into his hanger at get some good detail shots. I'll try to find those. He had a landing accident (not bad) and flew it gear down to Hollister where it was disassembled. From there, I think it was bought by a mormon church in Roseville. I'm glad to see that it is now in good hands and flying again!

I remember growing up in Lodi watching that P 51 fly as a kid. He was very hard on that plane. Wiped out a few runway lights one time. Came back from a flight without a canopy another time. I think there was a video at one time on the internet that showed another hard landing. I'm pretty sure the wing was beat up pretty good. Glad to see it is in good hands now. That is an amazing looking mustang. Very nice.

So did that Mustang influence your wanting to be a pilot, or a good pilot? You (and Lisa) going to make it to Reno again someday??? I have a picture of that plane sitting in the hanger in Lodi but I'll be darned if I can find it.

We won't make it again this year. I wish. Hopefully next year will be possible. Maybe someday they will have a helicopter class so WE can round the pylons!!! Just kidding. I would much rather be a P-51 pilot than a helicopter pilot, but unfortunately I had 1 number on that 225 mil Powerball ticket last night

After the airplane had it's little whoopie-do in Lodi, it was repaired there. It was purchsed from Bill Daus (sp?) by a couple of folks. It was flown to Salinas where it was dis-mantled and has been ever since. The Andreini Family bought it last summer and it has gone through a restoration and is almost complete.
