    Re: Miss America

It might have been a different airplane, I don't remember, I do know, the paint scheme was that os Miss America.........the earlier paint scheme. If memory serves me right, I believe this was before the revial of air racing in 1964. Seems like they Air Force was using it as a chase plane for something. I just looked for the book and can't find it..........I think I loaned it to someone years ago and never got it back. My flight instructor back in the 60's bought it for me........it was a book on P-51's and he endorsed it.......makes me mad I lost it.

      Re: Miss America

There's a quick shot of Miss A at the end of the Clay Lacy video that's posted here on the message board. If you're quick, you can freeze it and get a pretty good look.

Howie Keefe has a new edition of his book out. Autographed as well.
I will have a limited supply of them. See me at the NAG Shack at the races.

                Re: Miss America

I do remember there were two versions of the Miss America paint. I encountered that in a funny way some time back. I used to organize R/C warbird races back in the day and at one of our major events that I was the contest director for I had two "Miss Americas" entered, one with the original scheme and the other with the second version. Both models were done very well but one was definitely a better "scale" model than the other so it got a better static score. As a result I spent a weekend having to deal with two modelers asking me to declare the other model had faked their documentation! It was not a fun experience! :-)

Modelers can sometimes be very serious about their toys!

In the R/C Hydroplane world the rule is you have to have photo documentation of the 'exact' version of the real boat--actually IN THE WATER--at a sanctioned event in order to register your boat for the season. I've seen boats with improper paint jobs or markings beached because something was wrong and the owner couldn't document the validity of it.

Sure you're not talking about one of the three Mustangs that the US Army used as chase Planes at Edwards for the Cheyenne helo program in the late 60s?

One was a somewhat stock Mustang (44-72990/N6322T) and two of them were Cavalier F-51s (68-15795 and 68-15796).

                    Here's the stocker:

You always seem to have great information re: the Cavaliers.

You should work on a book. <ducking>

Any word on the real extent of the damage and if they're still going to make it to the dance?

Why do I get paranoid about her when there is no news to be had at the unofficial websites or anywhere on the web?

You would be paranoid too if everyone were against you!
