Does anyone have a shot of "Specter" Race X in the air that I could use as a background? Google doesn't seem to have anything.

Yep. I've got plenty of LARS, but can't seem to find a good one of Specter.

Re: OT: Image request
How about a pic of Jeanie and the SR71? How did that meeting come about? That would be one picture I'd love to have as a poster.
Specter X was cool, Jeanie, also really cool, I gotta say G.G. is the best looking of all of them.

Re: OT: Image request
I read a few years ago that the doors opening at even moderate speeds could be catastrophic. The early D models had an issue with the up locks. Airflow would force the clamshell open, allowing air to pull the main out a little. The resulting forces would fail the wing. They lost several planes and pilots to the problem during re-assembly testing in England.
The fix was a different lock and better attention to rigging during assembly.
Jeannie was my favorite version of the aircraft. GG is growing on me though...
That airframe has sure had a lot hard luck, and a lot of great stories, over it's racing career!

I also liked the Specter X paint. Give me flames or racing stripes on a racer any day.
GG speaks to me the same way Stilleto, Tsunami and the NXT's do. They are just "plane sexy" and look fast sitting on the ramp.
I LOVE GG's airframe and paint. Thank you Jimmy and team 177. I'm rooting for you to win it all this year.'71 S.D.1000, '85-'91,'94',95,'97-'99,'02,'04,'06,'08,'10,'13,'14 NCAR.
