Re: How many big round engines this year?
You mean the 4360s? Just two, I think. Furias and Dreadnaught.
3350s: Rare Bear, September Fury, Sawbones.
2800s: Czech Mate, Big Bossman, Blue Angel 1, What Da Fockewulf, Argonaut, Corsair #24.
2000: Steadfast
1820s: Air Biscuit, The BearLast edited by race9; 08-11-2011, 01:58 PM.

Re: How many big round engines this year?
Steadfast is the smallest radial engine plane in the unlimited field with the R-2000 except for the Biscuit FM2 Wildcat (R-1820) and the Bear T-28B (R-1820).
The performance of Steadfast has been exceptional considering the size of the engine competing against planes with much larger radial engines and planes with V-12 engines. The success of Team Steadfast can only be attributed to the commitment of the owner (Will Whiteside) and the dedication of the team members.
Another interesting note regarding Steadfast is that it is the lightest weight plane in the unlimited field at 5,300 lbs (empty) except for Suka a YAK-3. Compare Steadfasts weight with the F7F’s at 16,270 (empty).
