The freeways are not a place to be in Reno right now. Stay off of them for time and safety.
Actually, 395 s thru town is not under construct. Traffic moves just fine. North bound is being widened, but almost done. May be done by Race week. South traffic slows south of Moana due to construction around Meadow Mall, but still not too bad.
Now Interstate 80 is another story. Complete mess thru downtown area, both east and west bound. Starts from Rock west to Keystone.

Wagner, Please consider that if you are a 'Players Card ' member, you CAN get some comps to lower your costs for the stay. It works for most stays around then country. I do NOT promote the casinos, just stating facts. Boss

The GSR is where we always stay and have for 10 yrs for the Reno Air Races, they are the BEST...but I doubt if you will get a room, they are usually booked up 8 months prior to the race... we book the summit rooms for 10 nites and book it at least 7- 8 months in advance, we are there for pre-quailifying and qualifying though...it costs us around $1500-1800 for 10 nites the price goes up substantially during the race dates..but its worth it ! You can always try and get a room but I would not count on it ! They do have a GREAT RV park at the GSR if that works for you... Good Luck !!! Sandy....SECTION 3

                    Just some info:
My brother and I just booked our flights, hotel and car for the week.

I searched around and the best deal I could find was under the Southwest Vacations Packages (yes, the airline). They had Grand Sierra Rooms available but they were about $200 more for the 5 nights.

The Nugget had the best deal for rooms. I've never stayed there but the online reviews were good and the price was right.

We paid $520/person for flight, 5 nights at the Nugget and a compact car.

Bryan, that's not at all a bad deal when you condsider the car would have probably been close to $200. for that time of year...

Good old southwest airlines, they are for sure, Reno, Nevada's airline! (non-stop from PDX, in just under, or usually, just over an hour depending on winds)
