The list of racers below, are the fastest each has ever Qualified, and their fastest ever Race speeds, including Heat Races. Heat Races are abbreviated as FH for Friday Heats and SH for Saturday Heats. abbreviation "S" is Sunday Silver race. Those worried about comparing old course vs. New course/method calculations can do your own math.

Did Tsunami ever achieve anything close to those top speeds (though not in a qualifying run!)??

Tsunami's fastest Qualifying speed was 470.899, it's fastest race speed was 478.140.

Tsunami was on the heels of Rare Bear (#1), Strega (#2) and making ground up R A P I D L Y (!!!!) at the finish line in the Unlimited Gold race in '91. So if the race speed is 478.140, fine, but that last lap was a tad above that. A tad is an understatement.

Anyone who was there remembers it clearly as it still stands as the best Unlimited Gold race ever in most fans memories.

Though if you look at the timing sheets, lap 7 and 8 in the 1991 Championship race are SIGNIFICANTLY faster than the average fastest 'race speed' recorded.

The numbers might surprise you.

They're the NAG timing sheets, not anything listed on the RARA website.

Come by the NAG Shack in the Pits and pick one up. NAG publishes them every year, using course data from RARA. The course lengths are also published in the official RARA program, and you can figure them out from there w/o the time/speed conversion sheet.
