This is the first time in years that I've heard they have had it flying well before last minute qualifying. If its flying now, that likely means its ready to race now. In my book, thats a good thing since it won't be a last minute thrash to get the thing on the course and get a time. Is there still work to be done? Yeah, no doubt, but its awake and about far earlier than normal.
They were up on Monday as well. I only saw one orbit and a landing/run out but, it did sound good.
very cool... hmmm we will have an interesting gold run this year thats for sure...
just a quick question... the second pic.. is that American Spirit in the background????
race fan, photographer with more cameras than a camera store
Where's the Bears den when it's not racing at Reno? Does it spend it's life in a hangar at Stead? How frequently is it flown during the rest of the year? Does it attend air shows or does it stay in its den, too costly/high strung to fly...?
Yest that is American Spirit / Cornell racer in the background.
Bear is based at Stead and flies whenever is needed for system tests or dust needs to be blown off.
The last couple of months Bear has been up often and sounding pretty nice! Always nice when you are shooting something else like air tankers and a Bear slips in!
Or working in the yard and hear that rumble!
I think this is the most I have seen her fly before the races since the year they switched props.
Vacation starts tonight, gonna be sweet!
