    Re: Something different

I really like that first Mustang photo. In all seriousness, and NOT trying to be sarcastic, but is that an actual color scheme that was used during WWII? I have never seen it before, but I really like the scheme! Are there any more photos of that plane around? Thanks in advance.

Bill, who owns Precious Metal now? How much is from the original aircraft. I crewed on her the first year Levitz brought her to Reno, before the Whittingtons got involved.

Me thinks we need more of this to help the healing.

            Thank you.

This could be a bit embarrassing.... the camera is a Fuji S2 which came out in 2002 and was never intended for fast action photography. Somehow it is still hanging in there.

The lens is a Sigma 50-500mm lens (Nikon mount) which is the old discontinued one with out optical stabilization (OS). I do not know much about the new 50-500 mm OS lens.

All of my photos are adjusted with my limited skills in photoshop. I crop them, adjust the color, sharpen them, etc.

If I were to get a new camera it would be the Nikon D7000 because it has many great features but less expensive than the D300s and all my lenses are Nikon. Many on this board use Canon (Victor Archer, Tim Adams, Propellerhead and I think Jarrod and many others) and there is nothing wrong with them (Canons that is, there are definitely things wrong with Victor Archer, Tim Adams, Propellerhead and Jarrod).

I agree. And it's the sort of conversation Jimmy would prefer we had.

              Great picture, Kenny. lol

Nice set of pics, can you make out the shadow under the #s on furious?
Yes, I think it does. Different retraction sequence on Friday. I will get it all to him and CC you. Probably tomorrow.

As far as Furias, under the "15" on the wing it is just skin stress that I have seen on many others. Is that what you are talking about?

That is actually a Thunder Mustang and I am told it is close to a WWII scheme. I understand the shade of yellow is off. The plane is owned by Ron DeBlack but it is for sale. It was flown by Scott Nelson.

Thom Richard from FL owns it now. There is nothing there from the original Levitz owned, Merlin-powered, Precious Metal. The original PM was ditched in Galveston Bay. It was recovered (wrecked) but its current whereabouts are not 100% known to me.

Does anyone know why the NXT Big Frog didn't fly Thurs or Friday? I wanted to see it/hear it.... But it didn't go up after I arrived Thurs morning.

Gorgeous. Really nice shots. How can we look at these and not smile?

Am I the only one who feels a little better? Again, thanks Bill.

I think it might have been in the Sport 1C heat race Wed afternoon. I can't remember, but it did race. On Friday I heard **warning: rumor alert** that it went off the side of the taxiway while taxiing for the start of its race and was subsequently sidelined for damage inspection.

                              Re: Something different

I thought I saw her (the Frog) flying on Friday. least I thought it was the Frog.

That is one very very quiet AC... If it wasnt for the prop noise, you would think it was a glider. Well ok maybe not a glider, but it is almost that quiet.

I spent about 30 minutes in the hanger Tuesday morning chatting with one of the fellows while he was attaching a vid cam to his helmet.
super nice guy. Last thing he said to me was they will be back next year with more HP out of their engine.

They do visit our little forums here... though I think they leave the posting to Kevin. Again super nice fellow, and a true beauty of and AC.

Speaking of the Big Frog. Did anyone notice on Wednesday that it looked like Kevin Eldrige (sp?) in Relentless and Ron DeBlack in the thunder mustang were showing the Frog around the course?

Also, did anyone else notice that there was always someone/something guiding the big frog while it taxied? It was relentless, a tow cart.

Seemed to me that the Frog's pilot was feeling green.
