We are in the final stages of resolving the issues with the forums move to the new location. After talking with tech support, the only solution was to send him a copy of all the images. This will take time - but we know the fix SO it's only a matter of time now.

I feel guilty saying it, after the amazing job they did on it, but, I like it better in race trim!

Have you read any of the "former racers to TF" comments around here? this one fits into that category...

Sandra - Here's a link to a good history piece that Scott Germain wrote on John Crocker and Sumthin' Else. Lots of interesting information on the man and his plane.

Scroll down to the fifth article under "Current Feature"

And someone correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe that Jimmy Leeward bought the race canopy off of Sumthin' Else and used it on the Ghost...

Oh, how I mess John Crocker and that lovely white bird with the blue-metallic prop and spinner. I thought it was the best looking Mustang, or rather the best looks of any unlimited plane on the course in the early 80's, even after Dago and Strega were introduced.

A lot of awesome paint jobs have been painted over with lesser desirable ones...

Agreed. I loved Kenny's pixie, and I loved this paint job. Wasn't so fond of the paint job prior to this one.

I have to admit, even though I hate seeing race planes stop racing and return to stock, it sure is nice to see it flying in the heritage flights, kinda completes its history cycle, WWII fighter, Racer, then flying with modern day fighters

Oh my god, that's wonderful!! I remember sitting next to the airplane while the guy painted the pixie on the airplane. She was sooo cute. And don't tease about the jacket. I'd sell my soul to own it!

Yes that was the canopy and turtle back from Sumthin Else on the Ghost.

Just a friendly reminder- before ya go wanderin' off-site lookin' for a particular air racing subject, I'd recommend first using the search engine feature right here, 'cuz there's a veritable treasure trove of resource material & discussions to be perused in the aafo vaults. Here's a superb tribute thread on the late & great John Crocker started by my old pal Neal Nurmi (aka-wingman) that offers up a wealth of info & photos on JC's famous white UNL steed- Race #6-"Sumthin' Else":
