    Very nice pics, thank you for posting them. The Skyraider is such a cool, but deadly looking aircraft. I wonder if it was really loaded that heavily with ream munitions, could it get off the runway?

        Thats a pretty light loadout for a Skyraider, they have an incredible lifting capacity, with the A-1H having a max load of 8000lbs
        race fan, photographer with more cameras than a camera store

              It gets my vote for gnarliest sounding plane of all-time. It's also the most deceptively gigantic aircraft--one would be forgiven for thinking fighter the first time they see it, but it would never happen a second time.

                The motor-note was courtesy of the R-3350.

                And anyone amused by the notion of P-47 pilots running around inside the fuselage ducking flak ought to take note of the hatch on the side of the Skyraider.
