    Re: A Wingman quiz...

    You are quite welcome Jarrod...

I'm glad to see some interest in some of these old shots. I'm working up a collection of images for a friend, and will continue to occasionally post stuff I think might be of interest.

Here's another oldie -- not great technically but I was working under pressure and not paying as much attention to exposure as I should have been. The original was quite overexposed.

So when would this have been, who are these people, and what the heck is going on???

Anybody can play on this one...

You know what I like the most about that shot? I think that's Randy Scoville on the far right with the can of Bud Light!

          Thank you Shawn

That's what I'm trying to do -- bring back good memories for us who've been around our Sport for a while and introduce some history to the (relative) newbies...

85 when Dreadnaut cut the last pylon and the Super Corsair with Steve Sr got the title. I believe the fastest a Corsair had raced at 458 or so IIRC.
86 it eat up jugs, Wee Willy II had engine problems and Tsunami had problems in the final as well.
As we said then "We came, we saw, we broke them all."
That would be Randy in the pic.

It only went 438. But at the time it was the record....beating Stiletto from the year before at 437.

                  Remember the weather in 1982?

Hey Rich -- would you guess this is Steve driving in the second picture?

As usual, Shawn, Big Jim and Bucky are excluded for now...

Great memory of 1986 Gold; specifically remember Skip predicting at the line up and interview of the pilots that: they were ready, and would win! That probably explains the looks and grins in the photo. Stiletto(1984-85 scheme -still my all time favorite Unlimited) and Skip made it a real exciting race up until we could see the oil streaming along the bottom of that white Color Tile Mustang fuselage. Dang!

Ask Hacker about it sometime. That was his first year...he was probably 8 or 9. He damn-near caught pneumonia sitting up in the grandstands it was so cold and wet, and we were all huddled under blankets and garbage bags.

As we discussed earlier here is a photo from the archives, The photographer is unknown, however the picture was given to Lyle and if the owner of the image is identified proper credit will be given and or the image removed upon request. Lyle had a huge collection of images given to him over the years and most are not identified as to the photographer. Neal and I discussed the proper way for me to display some of this collection. So in essence this is the test piece. If this works out we can jog some minds, if not, Oh well it was not for financial gain.

The airplane is known, The first guy on the left is a give me, the next four get progressively harder, so who? what? When? where? and Why?.....May even be tough for Brad!

Interesting shot, John. Nice scan, too.

I know the first two, and maybe the fourth. It'll be interesting to see what answers you get.

Not many images floating around from that period, Even before your time, wasn't it?

                            No, actually

My mother and I were at Reno 1965, but this was taken at Lancaster in 1965.

                                How cute, John!

And Ramjets -- who raced it at Reno? Right airplane, but not a complete answer, by any means...

I too am waiting for Brad.
