    Back to the Beechcraft Photo ,I probably took it because there wasn't many of those around at that time. As for the P63's with 12 exhaust stacks per side I found air force photos with the same setup & somewhere I read about them having twin turbochargers. I really don't know for sure. The Chino guys or the CAF should be able to shed some light on this. Well at least I got to be there to see some of Air Racing history back then.

        The Allison had 2 exhaust ports per cylinder. The export P-400 Airacobra used 12 exhaust stacks per side, while other models used 6 per side. You could use either stack set-up on any Allison. The P-63 used the 12 stack per side arrangement.
