    Sorry if this is a repost, but this was sent to me and I thought it was will done and more people would like to see it

    If you are tired of the gore and scenes of the crash but want to better understand what caused this accident, then you'll find this video interesting. It is filmed in HD. It starts out on the ramp at engine start and follows through the beginning of the race. It focuses on the Ghost as it entered that final pylon. After viewing in normal speed it shows the upset event in slow motion. Some have speculated that the first in the string of events was the tail wheel dropping out in the high G turn. I can't be certain but it sure came out early. You can see the trim tab hanging loose and then falling away. Watching the prop in slow motion you can tell it has slowed considerably as the airplane climbed causing the airplane to slow (which caused it to fall out of the top of the barrel roll). Again, this video does not show the actual crash or the events that followed.

    This is a video of Jimmy Leeward's final race. This video shows no impact with the ground just the events leading up to the accident, segments of this footage…

    FYI- Air racing videographer- Jason Schillereff posted this excellent piece here on aafo in conjunction w/its' simultaneous release on vimeo & youtube, which was much appreciated by all us here & it generated many positive comments along w/extensive discussion. Recent topical & informative postings are usually accessible via a quick browsing of the prev. pages of the site's air racing forum msg board using the tabs below on the board. (+ the search engine works great for finding most subjects you might be looking for too)
