Listening to the local talk radio hoping for the updates they promised.

From RGJ:
In a press packet handed out at the Reno Air Races Association press conference on Wednesday, it says organizers plan to hold the 49th annual air races, Sept 12-16.

Re: 2012
Well I think that is as good of news as we could have hoped for.
Hats off to Mr. Houghton and everyone involved in the continuing of the best sport in the world. Simply put by Mike; "it's why we get up in the morning."
Made my day!
See you guys in Sept.

Re: 2012
I too would like to know if there is anything that could be done as far as petitions, etc. I don't know beans about the politics behind the NTSB or FAA. Hopefully, they will take testimony and hopefully consider our opinion and come up with the logical answer that this was a terrible but rare accident and the races should go on. Perhaps the good senators and congressmen from Nevada know more about this process and the folk on the transportation committees and might have some suggestions as to our support as members of the public and race fans. IIRC,they went to bat for us on 9/11 and tried to get an exclusion for the races from the no fly zone but of course to no avail. This time maybe they can have an effect with our help. As an EAA member, and knowing how much the EAA stands to loose if the NTSB comes down hard on airshows like OSH too, I am going to start by contacting the EAA to see if they will be represented at the testimomy and encourage them to help the cause. They really do have quite a bit of political clout.

Re: 2012
I wouldn't count on any support whatever from EAA
In the days after the accident, they were quick to jump onto the anti-air race backlash, and put out a press release clearly distancing themselves from air racing.
