  • Connie comes home to Chino 1-14-2012

Just in case any of the local photographers may have missed the news...

A EC-121T Connie will be arriving at Chino this Saturday at noon to take its place amongst the other planes of the Yanks Air Museum.

    See you there.

Awesome news!! I've been following this story for a couple years. I was just down in Chino and was hoping it would happen then. At least it happened!! Is it going to be a static or flying display?

We were watching to the West waiting for the Connie's arrival when off to the East someone spotted her. She made one kinda high pass down the runway then turned South to enter the downwind for runway 26 left.

It was a delight seeing this graceful bird touch the runway ever so gently. Full reverse pitch was used, or so it sounded like, to slow her down to taxi speed. She exited the runway and taxied via Golf to the front of Yanks.

Not knowing what the museum's plans are for her, here's hoping we see her again gracing the skies over Chino.

Victor... Great shots of the Lady !

You must have been located on south side of runway 26 left. Most certainly got her better side! The other was striped with petroleum 'paint' from the inside starboard engine.

            Again... Excellent pictures.

My son Jeff shot a great video clip of it coming in:

Turn it up, it's in stereo!

Thanks for the original post and replies. What a great story and plan.

I'm all for preserving these wonderful planes, There sure is something to be said about hearing them fly. Victor, thanks too your son's video skills that sound was captured and shared.

We need some passes like that at Reno :-)

Unfortunately don't know its story other than what is posted on the museum's website http://www.yanksair.com.

                          Wasn't Breitling's Connie also a Camarillo bird ?

Will it be maintained in a flying state? I'd love to get a chance to see it in the air!

Thanks to the Archers for the photos and video. I believe this EC-121 came from Pima Air Museum in Tucson,AZ. My son, wife, and I saw it there in 1995. Not sure of this info. Maybe someone can check it out.
