Great artwork Leo, but what? No DAGO RED, STREGA or RARE BEAR t-shirt visible underneath? Some fan HE is... (Heh-heh).
He's lacking an aircraft radio scanner too. Must be a new guy.
Just kidding. I love it.
I take no credit for the photo, but THIS is what I call a REAL race fan. "...Neither rain nor sleet nor cold or hurricane winds can drive me away, even after everyone else gave up and left".
I have, as many of us have, sat in rain and snow out there covered in Glad garbage bags and poncho's!
Sounds like a great subject for your next work...
You could do a whole book titled "The Race Fan", including said super-dedicated fans, the pit-lizards, the photo-fanatic toting his camera shop of equipment, the grandstand squatter (guys & gals who bring EVERYTHING from home), the souvenir-seeker dragging around bags of posters, shirts, books, plane models, videos and the like.... and any other air race fans we may come up with.
Can anyone else think of a specific type of race fan that can be added to the list?
Hmmm.
This was a mild self-portrait. After doing dozens for people over the years I finally broke down and did myself.
Good ideas, I'll add a more "imaginative" work to my queue of projects!
Hi Leo- I think that's a GREAT piece of self-portrait artwork! The details are all there, and even w/the shades on, it's obvious this guy's REALLY into 'The World's-Fastest-Motorsport' as one of its' veteran true-blue fans. Good Job!
DBD
Btw- Now you've also reminded me, that I still need to get myself a 'Super Chair' (which has been on my wish list for decades now)
