What is Delmar up too these days? Is there a book about flying the Gee Bee R2?

"Does Jim Moss still fly his Super Solution?"

No, Jim sold it to kermit Weeks just after Oshkosh 2002, it has been at Fantasy of Flight ever since, and not flown since.
Jim has just about completed a new Gee Bee QED, it is an incredible project.

Delmar is no longer involved with either the Gee Bee or Airshows,
but just after they finished the Gee Bee R2, Steve Wolf and Delmar wrote a book called Gee Bee, published by Motorbooks, and it`s still easy to find.
The first half is about building it, written by Steve, and the second half is about flying it by Delmar.

I have that one in eBook (PDF) form. Excellent reading, with lots of photos and detailed information.

Ohhhh I didn't know he was the one with the QED. That should be a very nice piece when completed.

There is no reason this gb couldn't race in the sport class it's a replica which makes it an experimental and the the engine is a r-985 which is less than 1000ci which is the cutoff for engine size, I'm already trying to figure out how to get a hold of Kermit I WANT TO RACE IT

Re: Gee Bee Z Engine Start Up

Talking about Kermit Weeks and getting new planes in the air like the Gee Bee Z, they posted another video this week of their B-25 Apache Princess also doing an engine run. Good to see him getting his planes back in the air again.

See some great HD footage of B-25 engine tests at Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida. For more information on this plane and others in the collection, vi...
