We are in the final stages of resolving the issues with the forums move to the new location. After talking with tech support, the only solution was to send him a copy of all the images. This will take time - but we know the fix SO it's only a matter of time now.

    Re: KRNV News about RARA

I have attended the NCAR faithfully every year since 1985. The first few years I paid money for my admission; after I was offered the opportunity of working for my ticket I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. This year I will contribute the value of my season pass and still work my usual job. I challenge the rest of my fellow volunteers to consider doing the same.
The old adage of strength in numbers has worked time and time again, as proven by the March of Dimes, the contributions to getting the Bear back into the air, even the brief struggle to fund Lefty's White Lightenin' project that neded more time than he could wait, and the on-going campaign for rebuilding Tsunami. We love our sport more than the community of Reno or the State of Nevada gain in dollars from it, so it's only logical for us to put our money where our hearts are. Any amount contributed to the RARA Insurance Fund will help get the insurance premium paid.
    Betty Sherman, Treasurer
    NationalAir racing Group (NAG)

The Bear dumps enough Grease ( read Aeroshell ) to make it quite tasty!

Done. Just sent in my $100 (I love paypal) and I am still waiting for them to charge my account for my RARA membership...they did charge the tickets right away.

As far as getting the money back, well...I dont really care. Yes, I might give more if I was guaranteed a refund if the races didnt happen, but at the end of the day, I just want to be able to look myself in the mirror and say I did my part. I dont even need a t-shirt that says, "I gave $100 to save the races....how about you?"

I hear rumors that we all here can buy a sponsorship for $4,000. I am not exacty sure if there are 400 folk here that can give $10 for a AAFO sponsorship or exactly what that would get us in the way of perks, but it may be worth looking into.

WHAT! Now this is gettin' personal!! If that's the case, then you should all know that at this very moment, MR. "Doody" is perfecting his recipe for Bear stew and will personally serve it up for the whole crowd on the ramp!

Wayne, my sentiments EXACTLY! I just started a new job and My trip to Reno with my brother was a part of the negotiation. This was the second time this has transpired in my many trips to our mecca.
After my first trip I swore that, even if I'm living in a cardboard box, I WILL be in Reno in September! So let it be written, so shall it be done.

BTW, last year's tickets - donated. $200 each between me and my brother - donated. Picking up our tickets & beer at Scolari's - coming soon. NCAR will live on, thanks to us!

I wont ask for a refund at all. But being a glass half full man I know they will happen. Here is my speculation of how I think it will happen. About a week before sept 1 Mike Houghton will get a phone call asking how much he has recieved, then said person on the other end will top up the fund. I cant see it happening anyother way.

donated to keep the Bear flying=win
    donated to get Lefty's P38 back flying=loss
will donate and keep fingers crossed, it's Reno after all!
would not expect nor ask for a refund if it does not happen.

Your partly right T. Indian gambling has hurt here as the casual or small stakes gambler stays closer to home, and with the shows they are hosting there is some serious draw from Reno's numbers. The high stakes still come here and though I have never been in an Indian Casino most I talk to say the winnings are horrible in them.
The biggest drop in gaming and services in Reno is due to the economy pure and simple. Reno is a destination town in that people come here for the whole package, events, concerts, rooms and gaming. They just can't afford it like before.
Reno has had more small events sponsered by casino's this year than I have seen before, weekend festivals, trying to get the people downtown and they are in the middle of reconstructing most of the downtown areas.
Not just individuals but conventions have dropped as groups economize.
The casino's know where their money comes from and I think when all is said and done they will have done their part.

As far as some wealthy guy giving up some cash,I don't think so.There is not much of a return on the investment. Most importantly, the libility factor is there.Who wants to spend thousands, possibly millions on defending yourself in court if there is another accident. You were just the guy that donated a ton of money and now you have to defend yourself in court for being a nice guy?
Some of you guys sound like the current administration in Wash D.C.Let the rich pick up the tab for your troubles so that you can have an enjoyable life.Let the watch maker come through will more cash. They seem to be happy year after year or until someone tries to get into their pockets after and accident.
Ummmmmm, WRONG! They're kicking in over a half million, and no, indian gaming is not kicking their butts. The Nevada casinos are still the one and only "hard core" gaming facilities where high rollers can make(or lose) serious money. Indian casinos only offer limited gaming for the "casual" gambler, and the pay is more nickel and dime.
