Going through old e-mails now that I am back from Osh.
Sorry if this is old news.

F-22 OXYGEN PROBLEM RESOLVED?

The Air Force now thinks that a faulty valve installed in pressure
vests -- not oxygen contamination -- has been causing the hypoxia-like
symptoms reported by some F-22 Raptor pilots. Twelve incidents
involving hypoxia-like symptoms were reported between April 2008 and
January 2011, and one fatal crash has been linked to oxygen-delivery
problems.At least one report

even indicated toxins had been found in the blood of Raptor pilots.
The Air Force briefly grounded the roughly $80 billion fleet of 180
Raptors while it failed to source the problem and thenattempted a list

prevent the vest from deflating and that, they think, is the problem.

Could the same problem have occured on the 2 fatal F-20 accidents previously ?

F-20? Did you mean F-22? As I recall, Northrop didn't make many of the F-20s...

No, but two were lost and blame went to excessive G-forces. Juke, did you mean the Tigershark?

Despite the G-loc excuse, a report I read not long ago stated that one of the pilots may have had a pre-existing digestive medical condition he kept to himself, but the article says it was never determined if this condition contributed to the loss of control or not.

No, but two were lost and blame went to excessive G-forces. Juke, did you mean the Tigershark?

I seem to remember a few incidents with oxygen systems in which the cleaning proceedure allowed residual solvent to pool within the system and incapacitated some pilots.
