Just was thinking about my favorite three classes: Unlimited, Super Sport, and Formula Ones...
Borrowing some course description info from airrace.org, here are some numbers to maybe have in your wallet come qualifying days:
UNLIMITED CLASS: The Unlimited Class course is 8.1034 miles based upon a speed of 500 MPH and 3.5 Gs.
A 58.3444 second qualifying lap = 500.0007 mph
58.228 sec. = 501.0002 mph; 57.7668 sec. – 505.0001
57.2004 sec. = 510.0006 mph
Current record (Strega, 2011) = 499.160 mph. To beat it (499.161 mph) = 58.4425 sec. = 499.1614 mph
GOLD SPORT CLASS: The Gold Sport Class course is 8.0782 miles based upon a speed of 425 MPH and 3.0 Gs. (contingent on the number of modified aircraft to race)
*NOTE: Should there be less than five (5) modified (Gold) Sport Class aircraft, all Sport Class races shall be held on the Silver/Bronze course.
A lap at 68.427 (1:08:427) = 425.0007 mph
(Current record = 409.297 mph set by Jon Sharp in Nemesis NXT in 2008.) To beat it: 71.0522 sec. = 409.29795 mph.
FORMULA ONE CLASS: The Formula One Class course is 3.1875 miles based upon a speed of 250 MPH and 3.0 Gs.
(Current record = 263.188 mph set by Jon Sharp in Nemesis in 1999.) To beat it: A lap at 43.5998 sec. = 263.189 mph.
Now: 250.000 mph = 45.900 sec.; 255.000 mph = 45.000 sec.
260.000 mph = 44.1346 sec.; 265.0005 mph = 43.3018 sec
Predictions?
Tiger wants the 500+ mark to be in the books in case there is never another opportunity. I thinks Stevo will take Strega into history with a 502.741mph record. Furias will still be the winner on Sunday though!
The Super Sports Championship will finally be won by John Parker in race #352, but don't have a feel for what his qualifying speed might be.
I think a certain blue NXT will set a new qualifying record but can't go out on that limb too far,......oh why not? --69.692 seconds = 417.286 mph.
I graduated from High School in Boise so have to go with the new Boise entry "September Fate". The best four qualifying speeds for Endeavor have been in the 251 to 256 range. Can the new Brian Reberry design not only beat that right out of the box but set a record also? Probably not, but you only live once, so I will cast out all good reason and say the new racer will go 264.194.
