Totally useless information. Let's get some news out there even though we don't know anything.
At least they did not try to mis-interpret the toxicology report.
In the process of reading the downloaded report. It will be interesting to see what they finally say is the cause.

If I read it (the NTSB interview transcripts) correctly, it appeared that there was a minor issue with a screw in the right trim tab being too short. It was determined that it was simply cross-threaded (not too short) and subsequently installed correctly. That story is WAY too boring to report, though.

They could have done worse for sure. But I've given up any hope of reasonable reporting form major "news" outlets for anything aviation related.
But there certainly was an issue with bolts that held the actuator and it was reported in flagged in the inspection. It also seems like it isn't clear what followup was performed afterwords. In fact in one interview one of the mechanics was asked about whether the other bolts were examined and the answer was no since they was only the one bolt mentioned. And at least one of the related nuts exhibited evidence of cross threading.
Folks make mistakes, all we can hope is this leads to steps to prevent a similar mistake in the future. I vote for not interested in the blame but definitely looking for the lessons to apply going forward.

Unfortunately blame has to be assigned for the lawsuits to go ahead. Like most of these it is surely a series of issues that added up to it. I agree, I don't care who or what is to blame except in the lesson it teaches for preventing this in the future.

I have not looked at the link, but have seen video of the crash of Galloping Ghost. It reminds me of the crashes you see in Top Fuel Dragsters where the rear wing breaks off at top speed and the Dragster lifts off the track and becomes airborne and/or begins to break in half on the track, or Funny Cars where there's an explosion resulting in life threatening/fatal crashes.
When you are traveling at the speeds that they are going, everything has to work perfectly and there is little room for error. Racing in the Unlimited Classes is for experienced people willing to risk serious injury or death.

Sorry. Ntsb won't, but the courts will, based on their findings.

In regards to the article, its News4. They are by far the worst Reno news network. They are constantly mis-spoken and their facts are ways jumbled. They employ the worst reporters in town. Just a couple of weeks ago, during Hot August Nights, one reporter said, and I quote, "Chevy Mustang."You'll get your chance, smart guy!
