I think it's really important to note that Mueller does NOTHING with the computer other than scanning his work! When you see something he "throws out" for review, it's a painting! He does this stuff completely by hand with brush and paint!

I really like this cilor scheme by Dave Mueller. It enhances the lines of the Yak beautifully. The only thing that will be naturally added in flight will be the exhaust stain.

Very cool design. Has elements of Odegaard's Super Corsair scheme in it...and it seems to fit the Yak well.

At a wild guess, I'd say he starts with an existing photo as a base point, though! That particular one looks kinda familiar.........

Yep! That's an awesome pic of yours, Mike! I couldn't resist - did a quick paint sketch over the top of it to give Will a better idea of what a scheme or two might look like flyin' fast. Hope you don't mind.

Dave is an amazing artist. Within a day of sending him a few pictures for a request, he sent me back two sketches that just blew me away. I can't wait to see the finished painting. You can't go wrong with Dave, his work is amazing.

There you go , Will. "Red, White & Blue", the theme for Miss America only much more sophisticated. Doug's 2nd & 3rd renderings (top row) do it for me. If I had to vote, I'd pick the 2nd one because of the very appropriate Red Star and swoopy 33 on the tail.
