Very cool! I beleieve that would be a fuel bowser (not a fuel truck) parked in front. Imagine people flying today, how they would react to seeing mechanics crawling all over the engines every flight.
      No pixels were harmed, honest.

Is it just me or are there some good lookin' aircraft in that gallery? Airliners today are so pure in technical design there they're just not any fun to look at. Look at that Ambassador. What a cool lookin' ride. That 749 is awesome lookin' too. You can feel what the designers where trying to project. It was an age when style meant something. I'm gonna go slick back my hair, pick up some gin and a pack of Lucky Strikes and go listen to some Lionel Hampton now.

Seriously though Vic, thanks a ton for sharing those. I love 'em. Please keep 'em comin'.

Lionel Hampton -- cool! Perhaps a little Oscar Peterson, too? Sarah Vaughn? Drinkin' Tanqueray? MMMM!!!

Looking at these pics, I can smell the ramp -- just the way is was when my dad took us to KCVG in the late 50s, early 60s. My only ride in a Convair was the summer of 1960 from Cincy to Cleveland at the tender age of 4. Come to think of it, that may have been my first airplane ride -- either then or in an Island Airways Ford Trimotor at Put-In Bay.

The album that got me hooked on jazz was Ben Webster meets Oscar Peterson-Verve. Although just about anything off of Verve was cool.

Great stuff Victor. I love the old (new at the time) stuff your dad shot.

I must ask.... do you have any pics of a Tu-114? With only 31 built and considering their very limited western hemisphere appearances, it would be a long shot but I had to ask.

Too bad they just scrapped the one at Domodedovo airport in Moscow.
