    Old racing photos

    My grandfather was Major General Wilson V. Newhall who raced from approximately 1929 to 1949. These pictures are from the 1949 Thompson race where he finished 3rd.
    I have a great deal of his personal racing items and want to share some of them with people that enjoy racing history.

            Thanks for the great responses! I would like to post items that hopefully everyone can enjoy. Also, please feel free to copy any photos, etc if you are interested.

            Attached are two of Grandpa's racing licenses. Always thought the one from 1930 is interesting because Orville Wright signed as the Chairperson.

            The other photo is a picture of the Liberty Engine Trophy that Grandpa won in 1931. He also placed 2nd in the Douglas that year.

              Your grandfather looks like an airracing pilot.Add the cigar,leather hat,
              and goggles and we're right back in the 40's.

                Very nice. General Newhall raced the "big wing" P-63E #65 at Cleveland.
