  • World Touring Car Championships at Sears Point

The WTCC came to the US for the first time this year and they happened to come to Sears Point. I got a few shots.

They had some open wheel cars...

And the American Touring Car Championships

Some cars just flat out don't belong on a race course..

Yes, that is a Honda Fit being lapped by a back running Mitsubishi Evo.

And we had some Spec Maserati racing. Italian V8s sound fantastic.

These guys aren't afraid of contact

Yes, they have to rent the cars and pay for any damages.

    Enjoy,
    Will

    Will,

Thanks for posting. Were you shooting from behind the barriers? I'm heading to Sears this weekend for the first time, and will want to find spots where us "great unwashed" can get some good action shots.

    No pixels were harmed, honest.

      Robert,
There are a few good spots to shoot, but it depends on the time of day. In the morning I tend to shoot from turns 9,10 and sometimes from 11, mid day 11 works pretty well but beware of of the likely under exposure due to the reflected light from all the white signs. I almost always have to fix underexposed shots in photoshop. The Island between turns 5 and 2 (take the bridge to get out there is also not too bad at mid day if you have enough lens. Turn two up in the stands is where all the elevated shots are taken from. The light gets really good late in the day there.

Are you going to be there to watch CSRG race this weekend? I might come out for a little bit on Saturday.

cool pics, the open wheelers look like the old A1GP cars, and your right, that honda just looked totally out of place, but here in NZ there was a guy who rallied one, ok it was built to our unique Kiwi2 class, where you can repower a car to a max of 2.5l but it had to be a motor from the manufacturer, so there was the 2L integra powered honda, and another guy rallied a Nissan Micra powered by an SR20 2l
