Reno Nevada:
The Board of Trustees of the Reno National Championship Air Races and Show has announced it will increase prize money for the 1998 event (September 17-20) by $100,000.00. This will bring total prize money to $600,000.00.

Jack Walther, Chairman of the Board, said, "We are exceptionally pleased to be able to increase our prize monies by this dramatic amount. We made a promise to the Air Race pilots last year that we would increase the purse, and I am proud that we are delivering on that promise. In addition to increasing the prize money we are also adding an additional class of racing.... The exciting T-28's. Twenty of these powerful large all stock aircraft will be fielded for this entirely new event"

The Reno Air Races are in the final stages of negotiations for exciting military demonstrations and other new events for 1998. These plans will be unveiled within the next thirty to sixty days.
