Strega to hitch a ride home!

FlightLine Update 9/23/97-

Bad news from "Team Strega", a spokesperson for the '97 Unlimited Gold winner, told FlightLine today that the aircraft is still at Reno in unflyable condition. As reported in our last update, the extent of damage to Strega from the landing mishap in the finals of the 1997 Reno National Championship Air Races, is unknown. It appears the highly modified P-51 air race plane will have to be partially disassembled and trucked back to it's hanger in California for repairs. According to the spokesperson the extent of damage can not be accessed until they get Strega back to it's base for further examination. If all goes well the Reno winner should be back in the air in 5 to 6 months time. We will continue to follow the recovery and repair of this great air racer!

FlightLine encourages our readers to support the Strega repair effort by going to the
"Strega Store"
