"SPRUCE GOOSE"-UPDATE

Good News For "Spruce Goose Museum"

December 18, 1997 McMinnville Oregon

The McMinnville, Oregon planning commission has voted to approve the siting of the proposed "Michael King Smith Evergreen Aviation Educational Center" museum. The structure, (architectural drawing shown above) designed to house the largest wooden aircraft ever built, has been in the planning stages for several years but appears to now be moving ahead.

The approval came after a presentation by the museum director, Gary Thompson and several engineers for the project. According to Thompson, ground breaking could begin as soon as this coming June. The siting must still be approved by the McMinnville city counsel.
