"The Contenders - Critical Mass"

As the clock ticks down toward Reno 2002 and we near this year's Pylon Racing School just barely a week away, we're going to begin presenting "The Contenders" for this year's Gold win on Sunday. Not to be mistaken with our infamous "On The Limb" report, this will come later as we build up the necessary courage to lay it on the line with our official back yard predictions for this year.

We begin our contenders with an airplane that many think may have its year this year. Certainly, this year will be a STRONG year for the Round Engine Roundup camp! With Lyle Shelton's Rare Bear growing ever closer to flight status, Tom Dwelle's Critical Mass, ready and waiting and a few other contenders who are bending some pretty radical sheet metal as we speak, it will be quite a year for the "Roundies"

For those of you chomping at the bit for a "bit" of air racing a "bit" early, this airplane will be available for viewing twice in the near future. Tom and crew are scheduled to bring the big red Sea Fury "over the rocks" to Reno for a few laps and some fine tuning. Tom is also slated to appear at the 25th annual Nevada County AirFest, at the Nevada County Airport, Grass Valley, California on July 5th and 6th.

That said, ladies and gentlemen, we give you "Critical Mass" as Tom skillfully rounds home pylon last year at the Pylon Racing School at Reno, Nevada, USA!
