"The Wait"

Reno 2001 was a year of waiting to be sure. It was also a year of frustration and unclaimed gold.

In this shot by Naomi West, two time T-6 Champion, Nick Macy waits for his turn on the pylons in the second qualifying/practice session for his racing group. His turn did not come.

Macy had been unable to run in the first group due to mechanical problems but as he waited for the second T-6 qualifying session on Monday Afternoon, time ran out and the session was cancelled until the next day.

As it turned out, Nick would have to wait another year to make the run for the T-6 Gold at The Reno Stead Airport.

The disappointment for Nick was two-fold this year. Macy is a farmer and ag-pilot embroiled in the agricultural water crisis at his home in the Klamath Valley in Northern California, he had planned on getting extra exposure for the cause of the distressed farm community by advertising the website http://www.klamathbasincrisis.org. The water crisis is an issue that not only affects the local farmers, it is one with wide spread ramifications for the entire nation, we urge you to visit the website to keep abreast of this situation.
