"Air Racin' Vegas-Style"

This week we're featuring another shot from The Nellis Air Show "Aviation Nation 2002" Racing Las Vegas-Style.

There were actually three airplanes in the "racing" at Vegas that fell into the category of "returnees" to the sport. Of course, the long awaited return of Lyle Shelton's Rare Bear would probably have to be the story of the event, but.. Both Mike Keenum's Riff Raff and Bob Button's Voodoo returning to Air Racing were notable.

Mike's airplane suffered damage at the 2000 air races and initially, Mike and his family had decided to retire the airplane from racing. Voodoo's fate remained in question this year right up till the time we saw her on the ramp at Reno. We're very happy to see all of these airplanes in the air, especially for this first step in bringing Air Racing to a wider audience.

The World of Wings produced "Las Vegas Air Racing" demonstration was a grand success and could well be the beginning of much larger things.
