"Heritage of Strength"

The United States of America was forged in battle, it is our heritage, and our destiny must always follow a path that ensures we remain strong in the face of tyranny and aggression. This week, in honor of those who have served and currently serve in defense of our great country, we present these views of our military air power, then and now.

In the first selection —shot by Sue Petersen— World War II, The Korean War and The Gulf War are represented by flights with The United States Air Force, Elgin AFB West Coast Demo Team's F-15; P-51 Mustangs, "Su Su II" flown by former astronaut and owner, Frank Borman, along with "Val Halla", flown by owner retired Gen. Bill Anders and Dale "Snort" Snodgrass flying the F-86 Sabre.

In the second selection —shot by Wayne Sagar— "Lightning and Thunder" are the theme as the Air Force’s West Coast A-10 Demonstration Team's A-10 "Thunderbolt" is joined by the Lone Star Flight Museum's P-47 "Thunderbolt" and the Chino, California Planes of Fame Air Museum's P-38 "Lightning." Both selections were photographed at the 2002 Aviation Nation AirShow at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, Nevada, held Oct 5-6, 2002.
