This shot is an example of how the automatic metering will work fairly well when the subject is in the same lighting as the background.. i.e. not a brightly lit sky as background.
(note: since shooting at this event, many lessons taught by our photographers, Neal Nurmi and Sue Petersen have sold me on NOT using auto exposure settings. I shot several rolls of film at an airshow held in Portland, Oregon a few weeks after this session.. all done on manual settings and my results were much better. We will feature a gallery of images from that show at a future date, with images by myself and Sue Petersen, including some great shots of the Blue Angels)
