Mark S. Daniels Ramp and Action Shots

Racing for pink slips? -- Not exactly...

A Douglas DC-4 tanker departs Stead enroute to a brush fire while Ed Schmidt's turbo-charged Questaire Venture taxis in after a training flight on the Sport Class course. Note the height above ground and the position of the landing gear on the tanker... These guys are on the ragged edge.. hot, high and heavy, they suck the gear up and claw for altitude on each flight. Word we got was, Co-Pilot has hand on load toggle... if an engine hick-ups... dump the mess on the runway!
