In my somewhat short
career as a photographer, I have had limited
opportunity to shoot formation air to air, this
was my first time shooting with an open canopy. I
can tell you that I am getting goose bumps
writing this as I remember the feeling of that
first moment.
The canopy latch on the
T-6 I was riding in for this formation
photography was on my left side, after turning
away from Leeward to open it, I was absolutely
stunned and it was actually startling to see the
group of airplanes forming beside us with nothing
but air between us!
Actually, the first shot
I took with the canopy open had only Leeward in
the frame and trust me.. he was MUCH closer! Are
We Having Fun Yet!!!!???
