"People, Passion, Pistons and Power" Premiers August 19 on Speedvision

"People, Passion, Pistons and Power – the 2000 Reno Air Races" is scheduled for its debut on the Speedvision Network on Sunday evening, August 19. The one-hour television show was filmed at the 2000 Reno National Championship Air Races last September. The project was produced and is being distributed by World of Wings (WOW), an aviation sports marketing and media property.

"People, Passion, Pistons and Power" is an inside look at the powerful unlimited racing aircraft and the pilots and crews who compete in this extreme sport. Air racing at Reno is the fastest motorsport in the world and aviation’s most spectacular event. Highly modified World War II fighter aircraft capable of speeds up to 500 miles per hour race just above the desert floor in view of 180,000 spectators. In addition to coverage and highlights of the 2000 Bronze, Silver and Gold Unlimited class races, viewers will see interviews with top unlimited pilots including Lyle Shelton (Rare Bear), Tiger Destefani (Strega), Skip Holm (Dago Red), Brent Hisey (Miss America), Tom Dwelle (Critical Mass), and Matt Jackson (Voodoo). Also appearing in the show is Reno’s most winningest crew chief, Bill Kerchenfaut.

The television show recently won two major awards in the category of sports programming – a Silver AXIEM and a Bronze Telly. The AXIEM AWARDS is a national awards program created to honor those who produce the very best in all forms of electronic media and is the only award representing the entire electronic media industry. A Telly Award recognizes outstanding non-network and cable TV programming.
