"People,
Passion, Pistons and Power
the 2000 Reno Air Races" is
scheduled for its debut on the
Speedvision Network on Sunday
evening, August 19. The one-hour
television show was filmed at the
2000 Reno National Championship
Air Races last September. The
project was produced and is being
distributed by World of Wings
(WOW), an aviation sports
marketing and media property.
"People,
Passion, Pistons and Power"
is an inside look at the powerful
unlimited racing aircraft and the
pilots and crews who compete in
this extreme sport. Air racing at
Reno is the fastest motorsport in
the world and aviations
most spectacular event. Highly
modified World War II fighter
aircraft capable of speeds up to
500 miles per hour race just
above the desert floor in view of
180,000 spectators. In addition
to coverage and highlights of the
2000 Bronze, Silver and Gold
Unlimited class races, viewers
will see interviews with top
unlimited pilots including Lyle
Shelton (Rare Bear), Tiger
Destefani (Strega), Skip
Holm (Dago Red), Brent
Hisey (Miss America), Tom
Dwelle (Critical Mass),
and Matt Jackson (Voodoo).
Also appearing in the show is
Renos most winningest crew
chief, Bill Kerchenfaut.
The
television show recently won two
major awards in the category of
sports programming a
Silver AXIEM and a Bronze Telly.
The AXIEM AWARDS is a national
awards program created to honor
those who produce the very best
in all forms of electronic media
and is the only award
representing the entire
electronic media industry. A
Telly Award recognizes
outstanding non-network and cable
TV programming.

was the work of a fourteen-person
World of Wings media team led by
Director and host Mitch Carley,
Second Unit Director and Co-host
David de Vos, Director of
Photography and Post Production
Jeff Lee, Director of aerial and
in-cockpit photography Larry
Addison and Co-host and Technical
Advisor - Wayne Sagar. The
program was filmed at the 2000
Reno air races as the pilot
episode of a new aviation sport
series, "World of Wings -
the Very Best in Aviation."
The
one-hour television special is
WOW's second television
production following "Speeders
in the Sky," a 5-part
series on the history of air
racing filmed in association with
Maverick Entertainment and
currently airing on the Discovery
Wings Channel.
Speedvision
Network is a 24-hour all motor
sports channel being delivered to
40-million homes in North
America. The show will begin
airing with the following
schedule and will be repeated
throughout the next twelve
months. All times are Eastern.
