The date:
April 9, 2003 The
mission: Video Tape Rare
Bear!
The dream assignment,
air to air for still and motion
captures of the "World's Fastest
Piston Engine Airplane." We
present here, in nearly raw format,
some of the video produced on that
day. Our mission was to capture a few
seconds of motion video that featured
the new sponsor logos on the airplane
for commercial editing purposes. What
you will see in this video
presentation is the unedited footage,
the good bits, along with the bad.
Due to the Rare Bear Air
Racing Team's testing schedule, and
the fact that that they were burning
VERY expensive 160 octane race fuel,
our time in the air was very limited.
Our total video exposure time was
just under two minutes. In this clip,
nearly all of this raw footage is
included, along with, engine start,
taxi out, take off (all from previous
day's testing) and the actual air 2
air footage from the April 9 flight.
We were told at the time
of taping, that this may well be the
only video of the Rare Bear ever shot
Air 2 Air from an open airplane.
Whether or not that be the case, this
is very rare footage indeed. Enjoy!
