The 500 MPH Lap
At the conclusion of this year's competition there were a couple of very exciting features presented to the fans who stayed in their seats. First up JETS! The Stoli MiG's, the L-39 that had been used as the "start marker," the pace jet and Jimmy Leeward's awesome MiG-17, all took the course for some blisteringly fast laps... Jimmy had one lap recorded at nearly 550 mph! In this shot, we see one of the Red Stoli MiG's "duking" it out with the immaculate L-39, rounding pylon 8 on the west end of the course at Reno Stead Airport.
