Tom Dwelle's "Super Sea Fury" Critical Mass!

This is an airplane that may well set records as the development process moves forward. A very highly massaged Wright R-3350 engine was installed earlier this year and the performance of the the airplane has progressed as the team works through the details of bringing the airplane to perfection.

With no way to really test the very high power settings run at Reno before actually running in a race, the team discovered too late that the ADI settings were inadequate for sustained full power runs this year. This problem, combined with a fuel leak that kept the airplane out of competition for Friday's heat race, put Tom back in the pack for Sunday's Gold finals.

Anyone watching the performance of this airplane as he sliced towards the front in that race knows this fact... The airplane is going to be a very tough competitor in years to come!
