Dago Red passes over Outer Pylon Eight enroute to joining up with Steve Hinton in the Pace Plane (T-33) for an Unlimited race start.

The Unlimiteds will usually begin forming up immediately after takeoff, flying a southerly course while west of the field, turning eastbound behind Peavine Mountain, then turning northbound enroute to Outer Pylon 4 on the Unlimited Course, where Unlimited racing now begins.

An alignment aircraft (L-39 Albatross) follows along in trail, to ensure that the racers don't stray over the neighborhoods of Lemon Valley, which is situated to the East of Stead.
