Reno 2000: The Week in Pictures
Beautiful view of Dan Martin's veteran racer, "Ridge Runner III," Race 20, passing Outer Pylon Eight during an Unlimited heat at R2K. Last year's third place finisher in Sunday's Gold event qualified seventh for R2K at 422.596 mph, finished first in Thursday's Silver Heat 1A at 420.804 mph, third in the Friday Gold Heat 2A, third in Saturday's Gold Heat 3A, but Maydayed out of Sunday's Gold race trailing smoke. Had he not Maydayed, his speeds and performance in previous races suggest that he might have finished third or fourth in this year's Gold event as well, perhaps edging out Rheinschild. Amazing what a good race engine and some racing wingtips will do to enhance your P-51's performance...
