Reno 2000: The Week in Pictures
With his new racer not ready to compete at Reno, David Hoover opted to buy the former "Madder Maxx," Race 96, and race that aircraft in this year's International Formula One. Hoover qualified second behind Ray Cote at an amazing speed of 248.676 mph—a mere 1.162 mph difference—then went on to finish third in the Formula One Gold at a speed of 241.315 mph. Hoover is regarded as a top contender for the Formula One Gold in 2001 in his new racer, however, he should be regarded as a top contender in Race 96, now named "Mac Daddy," either way—perhaps in the Silver. We may see a single pilot win both the Formula One Silver and Gold should this pilot choose to campaign both aircraft at R2001.

The suspense builds...
