Reno 2000: The Week in Pictures
Art Vance taxis out in Furias, Race 15, a Hawker Sea Fury formerly owned by the late Lloyd Hamilton, and now campaigned by Bill Rogers at Reno. Despite a significant number of oily emissions, Furias performed well in the hands of Vance, who qualified the aircraft in 17th position at 397.432 mph, and won the Friday Unlimited Bronze Heat 2C at a speed of 385.359 mph. Vance's performance in Furias earned him a spot in Sunday's Unlimited Silver, but the aircraft was a "Did Not Start," perhaps saving its engine for R2001.
