A
Reno Unlimited Gold Race is one
of the greatest of modern
motorsports spectacles. In some
ways the Reno 2000 Gold was a
disappointment three great
Champions crippled and on the
ground and only one seasoned and
proven
Champion
actually flying. The contenders
had shown promise, but were
probably not quite there yet.
However,
it was still a Reno Gold, and
there is no such thing as a bad
Gold Race. As always, this one
had drama, glamour,
disappointment, and exaltation.
As always, it had the power to
stir the emotions of all who were
there.
It
also gave one of Air
Racings great photographers
the chance to do her thing.
Birgitta Nurmi has a unique
ability to capture the human and
mechanical drama that make Reno
so special. Over the next few
weeks, AAFO.Com will be featuring
the Reno 2000 Unlimited Gold as
seen through her eyes (along with
a few shots by her husband and
partner.)
